Your first visit

Tide pool at seashore.

Before your appointment

Make sure you are hydrated, but have not consumed caffeine or alcohol before your appointment. A light meal a few hours before is a good idea (you don't want to be hungry while you are resting during your treatment). You should wear loose / comfortable clothing. I will need access to your arms and legs, and possibly your abdomen or your back , during the treatment. Please wear no perfume or heavily scented products. There are three forms that I need to you fill out before the appointment (see link). Also, bring a list of all your current medications with you; I need a list of both prescription and non-prescription (over-the-counter) medications.

Forms

During your appointment

We will have a conversation about your current health concerns and your health history. I will examine your tongue, and take your pulse on both wrists. I may also palpate your abdomen or various points on your body. After our conversation, you will lie on the table, and needles will be placed where needed. I will ask you to rest for about 30 minutes (no cell phones!!). After your rest, I will remove the needles, we will have a few minutes for you to ask questions, and I'll send you home.

After your appointment

Make sure to remain hydrated. A rest or a nap when you get home is a good idea. No heavy exercise after your appointment, and no spicy / greasy food that day.

Financial

Payment is due at the time of the appointment. I accept cash, checks, and credit cards. I do not currently take insurance. I can provide a super-bill for you to submit to your insurance company or to your HSA / FSA administrator. If you do not have insurance coverage for acupuncture, many FSA / HSA accounts do reimburse for acupuncture appointments.

Cancellation Policy

Full fee is changed for appointments that are cancelled with less than 24-hours notice.
