Needles and more

Looking up from the street, buliding in Chinatown in Chicago.

Needles

Needles of differing lenghts and diameters are used to stimulate acupuncture points.

Moxa

Moxa is mugwort (Artemis Vulgaris). It has warming and healing properties and is used in various forms on acupuncture points or on areas.

Cupping

A vacuum in created in a glass or solid plastic cup. This helps release stagnation and pain in the body. Cupping is a healing modality that is found in many cultures around the world.

Gua Sha

A tool is used to scrape along meridians. This helps release stagnation and pain in the body.

Magnets / Press-balls

To extend treatment beyond the session, press-balls (made from seeds, stainless steel, or gold) are placed on acupoints. They can remain on the body for up to 3 days.

Electro-stimulation

After needle insertion, a gentle electric current is applied to a pair of needles. This can help with pain.
